Stay the Course: Part 1
Pastor Myers has shared on Daniel and how he had to battle through in his prayers from the resistance of ruling spirits that were in the heavenlies over his nation. It did take 21 days before God could come to Daniel and give to him the revelation of the end times. What if Daniel had given up on his prayers thinking that God would never answer? What happens when we fast and pray and it seems that the answers are detained from coming to us? Do we give up too soon? Could there be a resistance from principalities in the heavenlies that we must overcome through persistence in continuing prayer?
Those who are experienced in warfare recognize that victories seldom come quickly or easily. In the natural wars that America has fought, we can see that some of our engagements were long conflicts that exacted huge tolls in human life. For instance, World War I lasted 4 1/2 years and cost the US over 8 million lives lost. World War II lasted 6 years and over 16 million service men died. Our war with Afghanistan started in 2001 and as of today we still are unable to declare victory.
This is why I say that those experienced in warfare recognize that victories seldom come about all that quickly or easily. This is true of spiritual warfare. Our planet is the focus of a cosmic battle between the forces of good and evil—light and darkness—God and Satan. I John 3:8 states clearly that the reason Jesus came to earth was to destroy the devil’s work. Jesus talked of a sower casting seed on the path, but then Satan coming and snatching it away so people wouldn’t believe and be saved.
