“Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father.” (1 Thes. 1:3)

Do you remember when you were in a place in your life when it seemed that there was no hope? Absolutely none. You had given into the fact that your life was a dead end street - no way out; wondering what life was really all about and why you were in such a place of hopelessness. Many of you have been there, not even realizing that God had you in mind all along. You were lost, with hope, but didn’t realize it. “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:29)

Think of it, your personal salvation was not only well planned but demonstrates God’s abiding faithfulness. Not only that God knew that you would exist, or knew some fact about you, no, God knew you, the person! It was you whom God thought of in a personal, saving relationship. He planned that you would ultimately be like Christ. Now that you are saved and have the blessed hope, you are Christ’s vessel here on earth, His ambassador, His witness to the hope that is within you.

You now possess the very hope that so eluded you. Now you don’t have to ask the question, “What is life all about; why am I here; why do I exist?” Everything you do now, everywhere you go, you are Christ’s hands, Christ's feet, Christ’s mercy, Christ’s compassion, Christ’s forgiveness, Christ’s joy, Christ’s peace, Christ’s patience, Christ’s kindness, Christ’s gentleness, Christ’s faithfulness, Christ's humility, Christ’s courage, Christ’s truthfulness, Christ’s encouragement, Christ’s availability, and Christ’s wisdom.

YOU are Christ’s hope walking here on earth! YOU are flesh and blood evidence of this hope, not in the sense of an optimistic outlook, a wishful thinking without any foundation, but in the confident expectation based on solid certainty! So certain is the future of the redeemed that the New Testament speaks of future events in the past tense, as though they were already accomplished. Hope is never inferior to faith, but is an extension of faith. Faith is the present possession of grace; hope is confidence in grace’s future accomplishment. If you are saved, YOU are HOPE, so go out and BE HOPE!
